Laura Hancock is a radiating passionate Danish/American fireball. Her big love is comedy and her incisive, funny and creative personality is present in every aspect of her directing work, which is bursting with big energy and dark danish humor.
In 2015 Hancock made the leap from acting and is loving life on the other side of the camera, where she both writes and directs. Since making the move, she’s gained valuable experience as a second unit, main unit and assistant director on prominent TV drama productions – such as, Ride Upon the Storm, Deliver Us and The Rain for Netflix – Hancock is also working on a number of long form comedy projects for television, as well as a documentary series funded by the Danish filminstitut (DFI).
Her experience with acting is one of her main strengths as a director, since she is able to understand everything from a performance standpoint. Her background in music has formed her as a director and she loves collaborating on making soundtracks from scratch. Once she won a freestyle rap competition at Roskilde Festival (unofficial and in a camp at 2:00 AM, but an award is an award!). She also loves horseback riding and can make a shetlands pony run like an Arabian stallion. In the industry she is known as Hancock Unit, and when you work with her you will know why.
Laura Hancock is a self-proclaimed shooting star, and whoever gets to tag along, is in for a ride. We can’t wait to see what her career holds in store as a director with HOBBY!
