Emily Freda Sharp is a Director known for bold, playful filmmaking that pairs humour and thoughtful performance with a sharp sense of purpose.
She began her career in advertising, contributing to The United Nations’ People’s Seat with Sir David Attenborough, the first social-led campaign to win a Cannes Lion. Since then, her narrative work has shown an unusual ability to move beyond the screen. Her short film Uh Oh, a darkly comic take on unethical tech, helped spark the creation of an AI Ethics Taskforce inside 10 Downing Street, while Smile!, exploring public sexual harassment, contributed to landmark legislation making it a criminal offence in England and Wales.
Alongside her narrative work, Emily has directed campaigns for globally recognised brands including Tinder, Oreo, Tesco and the BBC. Her films are driven by rhythm, humour and character, often using familiar situations to question the things we’ve learned to accept as normal.
At the heart of her work is a curiosity about how things are, how they could be, and the surprisingly small distance between the two.
